2009 BLACK BEAR HUNT REPORT

Hunter #1 (Craig) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 3rd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, no sighting, unfortunately got a flat tire and took him longer to get back to the lodge. 5th night - bait was hit, heard crackling in the bush behind the bait, but no sighting. 6th night - bait was hit. At 5:45 pm, shot a bear approx. 150 lbs. He sat in his stand until the guide came (3 hours and 15 minutes). Tracked the bear and lost the trail, couldn’t find it. Next morning, tried again to track the bear, no luck. Craig is booked to hunt with us again next year - it will be your year, Craig, we believe it so!!! See you next year.

Hunter #2 (Dave) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 3rd night, bait was hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, no sighting.

Hunter #3 (Bernard) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 3rd - night, bait was not hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, no sighting.

Hunter #4 (George) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 3rd night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, harvested a 100 lbs sow with riffle.

Hunter #5 (Randy) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting, but swears he saw Steve’s Taradactle from last year. 2nd night - bait was hit, harvested a 125 lbs by riffle.ccess rate.

Hunter #6 (William) - 1st night - bait was hit, saw a bear, decided not to shoot and wait for another. 2nd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 3rd night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, no sighting.

Hunter #7 (Paul) 1st night - bait was hit, saw a bear approx. 80 lbs, saw another bear approx. 160lbs with a black streak on his nose, saw another bear approx. the same size as the first bear with a white diamond crest on his chest. Decided to wait since it was his first night, didn’t want the hunt to end just yet. 2nd night - bait was hit and pail was gone, no sighting. 3rd - night bait was not hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, no sighting.

Hunter #8 (Michael) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was dumped but not eaten, filmed a bear for about 25 minutes, shot it at 7:45 pm and harvested a 140 lbs boar. Michael is booked in for the 2011 hunt.

Hunter #9 (Ron) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 3rd night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 5th night - bait was hit, no sighting. 6th night - bait was hit, a bear came out from behind around 8:00 pm and then came back out to the bait around 8:30 pm. Harvested a 135 lbs sow by riffle. Ron is booked in for the 2011 hunt.

2nd Week

Hunter #10 and only hunter (Craig) - 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting, 2nd night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 3rd night - bait was hit, no sighting. 4th night - bait was hit, no sighting. 5th night - bait was not hit, no sighting. 6th night, bait was not hit, no sighting. 7th night - bait was hit, no sighting. Craig plans on coming back for another hunt.

3rd Week

Hunter #11 (Dave) 1st night - bait was hit, no sighting. 2nd night - bait was hit, shot a 124 lbs boar through the heart with a riffle around 7:15 pm.

Hunter #12(Dave’s Wife) 1st night - bait was hit, shot a 140 lbs sow right through the heart.

It was a different year for hunting this year. The weather was very different most of the summer, the berries were plentiful and the nights were very hot.
